Handmade Shopping & Markets
Why shopping local
MATTERS
There are dozens of reasons to shop locally; to find a unique gift, to feel good about your purchases, to support something you believe in.
No matter your reason, it always comes down to creating the kind of community you want to live in, and actively fostering those that help create it. Every time you shop with a maker, you’re helping to build Missoula, and are a steward of the magic this place holds.

THe Guide
What’s in the guide
And how it’s going to help you enhance your events and your relationships with the community.
-
What do you really want from planning a pop up show? Is it to gain new customers, show off your values, or enhance an existing event?
This guide helps you determine your goals for a pop up show and then shows you how best to achieve them.
-
With planning a pop up show comes a plethora of choices to make that will determine the success of your event. For example: what is my customer demographic and what kind of handmade products will resonate with them?
Asking yourself this question prior to inviting makers to participate will lead to a better selection of makers and more satisfied customers.
-
Should I charge a booth fee? How long should I let vendors set up? Should I require that vendors have an online payment processor? What is the standard space for makers to take up?
The logistic and best practices questions are where most small businesses with good intentions fall flat. We have experience planning more than 30 markets and working with hundreds of makers, and we have the answers.
